Self-Care Events for Providers
We believe that having fun, connecting with others, and moving are great ways to balance out the hard and sometimes isolating work of being in healthcare and as a therapist. Our goal is to make it easier for professionals to connect with self-care in meaningful and impactful ways.
Watercolor for Health Professionals with Sarah Zappe, Ph.D. of Kaleidoscope PA
**SOLD OUT
May 31st, 2024 from 3-5pm, at Ayama Psychotherapy
We're excited to announce our collaboration with educational psychologist, Dr. Sarah Zappe, of Penn State. This workshop at Ayama will include a window into what the research says about art and wellness, and participants will also enjoy a gentle introduction to the medium of watercolor. Absolutely no prior experience is necessary—all materials will be provided. Whether you're a healthcare professional or wellness provider, you're warmly invited to join us. Take this opportunity to relax and learn while someone else leads the way.
Dr. Zappe’s interests are in education in engineering, entrepreneurship, creativity, and innovation. As the founder of Kaleidoscope PA, she runs art workshops that are thoughtfully designed to incorporate evidence-based practices that have been shown to enhance mental well-being and foster personal growth.
We have approximately 10 spots available, so secure your spot and come hang out with us. Registration is here.

*GROUP IS ONGOING AND FULL (2024). Wish us well on this journey!
Taking time off is stressful. The purpose of this group is to break down the myth that extended time off can’t be taken without hurting oneself or one’s clients. While it is true that time off is not without challenges, the moment that we start to tell ourselves the story that time off is just for other people, then we cut out a lot of possibilities for finding the support and structure that we need to make good things happen.
The first meeting is set for 9/28/23 at 8:45 am for anyone who responded to the initial announcement of this group, and we will meet at the Ayama office. Block out your schedule (doesn’t that feel better already?), bring your morning coffee, and let’s allow the process to unfold.
Professional growth and CE trainings
We are an affiliate partner with Dr. Yamasaki’s long-time favorite CE provider, PESI, Inc. As such, we are able to offer significantly discounted rates and periodic free trials of trainings. The rates are not offered publicly through the PESI site directly.
We try to select offers that cover topics relevant to clinical issues that we are seeing often in our office or treatments that we are using.
Dr. Yamasaki has found that cognitive-processing therapy (CPT) filled some gaps in her knowledge so that she could better work with trauma. If you are interested, the CPT training is one of PESI’s top trauma trainings and includes a copy of the actual CPT manual by Patricia Resick and Kate Chard.
Learn Cognitive Processing Therapy with co-developer Dr. Kate Chard to treat trauma, PTSD, and other conditions. See impressive healing of trauma, dissociation, depression, and other problems using a 12-therapy session model with your clients. CPT has a strong record of effectiveness, and it’s endorsed as a best practice by the U.S. Departments of Veterans Affairs in the treatment of PTSD.
Details and registration are here if you wish to use the Ayama discount code (it’s also available directly through the PESI website, but without the affiliate discount). Ayama employees should be sure to submit their receipt for reimbursement.
*The PESI offers are often limited-time offers that we announce in our monthly newsletter, so we recommend that if you wish to receive announcements for these, sign up for our newsletter (see footer).
